Shane Wilson
Shane Wilson is a sculptor creating traditional and non-traditional carvings from moose and caribou antler; mountain sheep horn; mammoth, mastodon and old walrus ivory. Unfortunately, that Shane Wilson lives in the Yukon. The one Jellyvision got stuck with is a writer, director, performer, and knower of unnecessary information. That will come in handy, though, when the lives of everyone will be saved by his knowledge of the name of the lunar module pilot for Apollo 16. (It’s Charlie Duke.)
Why I like to Work at Jellyvision
In my job, I have had the chance to write everything from short fiction to corporate biographies to trivia questions. I’ve described the eradication of
dangerous diseases, charted the landing sites of moonships, and compared the Bible to Deathstalker III: The Warriors from Hell. Most importantly, I’ve
performed with sock puppets. There’s no telling what you might get to do here, and that’s pretty satisfying.
One of the best parts? Every now and then,
someone in the room will speak up, asking if anyone knows the answer to a question, or the right word for something, or a funnier turn-of-phrase than the
one they’ve already got. And before you know it, the whole place is bursting with ideas, with everyone – writers, engineers, random passersby –
making contributions. I love those moments. Jellyvision is the only place I’ve ever worked where creativity was not just part of the job, but the core of its being.
I like that a lot.
